Why this template exists
Most AI-automation conversations start with 30 minutes of intake: what does your company do, what's the workflow, where does the data live. Necessary, but the kind of thing you could answer in writing in 15 minutes on your own time.
If you're the one scoping the build, forcing yourself through these 6 sections before talking to anyone produces a cleaner problem statement — which is half the work. If you're hiring someone else to scope it with you, hand them a filled-in brief and the conversation jumps straight to the substance.
Either way, you walk away with a clearer articulation of the problem than you started with. That's its own value.
