Compare the data, not the formatting

Whitespace and object-key order are ignored. Changed values include their JSON Pointer location so you can find the field in a nested object. Missing keys are distinguished from null values.

A few deliberate boundaries

Arrays are compared by index, so inserting an item can produce several changes. Numbers and strings are different types. Large integer identifiers should be strings. Inputs must be valid JSON, with no comments or trailing commas. Duplicate object keys use the final value, following JSON.parse behavior.
